Do you know how RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) is used ?
To use RFID technology, a reader and RF tag (IC tag) are used.
Readers and RF tags are broadly divided into types depending on the frequency band: HF band and UHF band.
■HF band
The most familiar RF tags are the transportation ICs installed in smartphones, which are often used when using trains or making payments at convenience stores.
Recently, just by using a smartphone reader to read the RF tag attached to a poster or sticker, you can connect to a Wi-Fi by linking the smartphone app, or the browser will start and a link to a special site will open.
In addition, we are seeing examples of hot spring facilities switching from barcode/QR code payments, exit management, and key management to solutions using RF tags.
Credit cards, driver’s licenses, My Number cards, etc. are card-shaped RF tags, and I think everyone uses them frequently.
■UHF band
In other familiar places, major fast-fashion clothing companies are famous for using RF tags to make payments, but by incorporating RF tags into the hang tags of clothing, they are being used to manage the entry and exit of inventory, including in backyards, and to take inventory.
In the publishing industry, several initiatives have been started in which RF tags are used to manage individual books, and the industry is working together to use them to manage inventory and returned books, manage incoming and outgoing items at bookstores, and prevent theft.
In the area of logistics, in response to the recent logistics crisis, the trend is to introduce RF tags and solutions to pallets, flexible container bags, packaging materials, etc. in order to reduce the workload and improve efficiency.
We also have a variety of RF tags, so please contact us using the inquiry form on our homepage or email address contact@daio-eng.co.jp.
